Your vote counts in determining the voters vote in his state. They throw a vote for electors committed to the choice of a particular person. The governor of the state licenses to the voters who were interested in the choice of those who check indicated a preference for the general election committed to. Of course, only 24 states have laws requiring voters to the person that people prefer to vote.

Are, in most states (Maine and Nebraska exceptions, more that in one second) depending on which candidate receives a majority of the votes gets all the electoral votes of the state. This is true regardless of the margin of victory. You can win with 50.1% of the vote in any state or with 75% of the vote in a state that what you will get all the electoral votes of the possibility of such State.

So vote in your state to help any candidate who has chosen to win more than 50.1% (or more exercise)

Maine and Nebraska are different - each to the allocation of part of their electoral votes of congressional district, which means that it is possible to divide the state between the candidates.

Wikipedia entry about the Electoral College is a mine of information and history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_C ...

because your vote will decide who the votes of the electors of this state. If you have this system, everyone will become president, in California or New York, etc., and that campaigns are carried out only in densely populated cities. The story was very different. If we had a clean vote, Carter and Clinton, not President, because the primary system had been manipulated to promt city or coastal candidates - if the votes. Ed Koch, Mario Cuomo and Rudy are all former presidents.
